It's not an easy task to pull off a surprise party with people coming from 3 different cities across the country, but that's exactly what we did this past weekend. With mom and dad Schulte's and Dominic's birthdays in January and February, Allie, and Annie decided that a surprise gathering in Lincoln was in order. On Thursday night, Allie and Paxton flew in from Columbus and we drove up from Tulsa. The grandparents drove down from Watertown on Friday afternoon.
We arrived in Lincoln around 12:45 am, but the others weren't back from the airport yet (delayed flight). We contemplated sleeping in the car for an hour or so, but decided to sneak into the house and down to the basement, hopefully going unnoticed by Dominic's sleeping parents. We made it downstairs and while Dominic's mom did get up, she told us later that she thought it was just Annie so didn't investigate.
When Allie, Paxton, and Annie arrived around 1:40 am we surprised mom and dad in style, singing happy birthday with cake and candles ... why I didn't take a picture of this, I have no idea ;-)
We had a great time relaxing, playing cards, eating (had 3 different cakes for each of the birthday boys/girls), and just hanging out.
